It is in 1658 that d’ARTAGNAN acquires the title of Second Lieutenant of the Musketeers, elite troop of which he is in charge.

  D’Artagnan joins the Company
of the King’s Musketeers in 1644 where his brother Paul has already been engaged, then in 1646 he is serving the Cardinal Mazarin who will, all his life, be a true and faithful protector.

Man of confidence and tireless horseman, he will receive from Mazarin, the commission of Captain of the regiment of Guard.
He participates to several military operations during the Franco-Spanish war, in the Low Countries, in the siege of Stenay.
